Night at the Cathedral by Sun-Seeker Night at the Cathedral by Sun-Seeker
I may be able to improve the Raw conversion to remove foreground noise... I'll have ago tomorrow.. only got 5 hrs sleep :D
Bombo Headland at Night near Kiama Australia
Canon5D 16-35 lens at 16mm Iso 250 F5.6
1×5 minute esposure for the foreground lt by torchlight. and 55×30 second exposures at f6.1 and combined in startrails.exe.
After visiting this site in the day I planned this under the doona at 5.30 am over two days and dragged myself 100Km at 9.30pm on a clear mild night to do the deed. I couldn’t not!

Very cool man! Turned out great, the light on the rocks looks like a huge lightsource is bounced off some water and the ripples cast on the wall

Nice work as usual dude.

hey do you live anywhere near Melbs? I reckon we should catch up for a beer some time if so. I'd also like you to sign a print if that's cool?

Sydney based I'm afraid. Next time I go to mexico I'll try and look you up.

Thanks David.. I have to admit the stars have been amazing lately.. as you know our bedroom is elevated.. upstairs.. (now that doesn't sound good!!!) and for the last few nights when I have woken up I look straight out on a very star filled sky.. the Southern Cross and the Pointers looks close enough to touch.

Thanks.. should I try and rig a battery powered floodlight or keep torching?

:iconrobertvine:

I haven't really tried this myself. I know a guy who did quite a lot of this with a torch - his main frustration was the colour temp of the light being really low. I know another guy who experimented with powering floodlights from his car battery. Both of them got good results from it but I could never really get it to work so I stuck with natural light.

colour temp would not be an issue with RAW :) White halogen is my aim I think but

:iconrobertvine:

The issue is that you get the ';painted' bit in one colour temp and the ambient light in another colour temp so you can end up in the situation where nothing looks quite right!
